    Laurel is a General Partner at 83North (formerly Greylock IL), which she joined in 2008. Her areas of focus include: software, internet and fintech.

    Laurel has led investments in many leading European companies, including Just Eat (LSE: JE), Qliktech (NASDAQ: QLIK) and Hybris (acquired by SAP).

    Alex launched the well-known startup, Hassle.com, in 2013 and is a passionate believer in the power of the sharing economy to improve people’s lives - enabling individuals to take control of their working life and become micro entrepreneurs.

    In 2014 TechCity Insider named Alex ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, following on the heels of her appearance on the ‘Silicon Valley Comes to the UK Scale-up Top 100’ - a list highlighting British entrepreneurs expected to lead their firms to £100m in revenue in three to five years.

    Alex’s forthright views has seen her become a trusted source for commentary on the future of the sharing economy, women in tech, VC funding and the UK startup sector.

    Alex worked with the UK Department of Trade and Investment as part of the Afterburner scheme, helping to identify the next 25 startups ready for growth investment. Most recently she contributed to the UK government’s independently commissioned review into the sharing economy.

    Alex launched her career in the US after completing her masters degree at the University of Chicago; working on the campaign team of a major US politician. In 2006 Alex returned to the UK to become a consultant for Accenture, advising FTSE 100 clients on their customer and channel execution before leaving in 2012 to enter the world of entrepreneurship.

    Jenny Griffiths

    Jenny is the founder and CEO of Snap Fashion, and a software engineer turned entrepreneur. She started Snap Fashion in 2009, after graduating from with a Masters of Engineering degree in Computer Science from the University of Bristol.

    She specialises in Computer Vision, C++, and turning ideas and reactions into products. Her main goal is to change product discovery, and monetise the Internet in more creative and less invasive ways.

    Bastian Lehmann

    Bastian is the CEO of Postmates, the on-demand delivery company he co-founded in 2011. The idea for Postmates was originally conceived in 2005 when Bastian was relocating from Munich to London and he struggled with finding a simple solution for moving goods around a city. He later pursued this notion of “ride-sharing for stuff” through AngelPad in San Francisco, where he met his co-founders Sean Plaice and Sam Street. Postmates now operates in 40 US markets.

    Prior to Postmates, Bastian co-founded Curated.by, a real-time tweet curation platform based in London. Before that, at 12snap, he managed marketing budgets for Adidas and Lufthansa and helped many European startups in product related roles. A native of Germany, Bastian now lives in San Francisco.

    Tim Armstrong

    Tim Armstrong is the CEO of Oath, a global digital and mobile company that reaches more than one billion consumers and partners with the world’s leading global brands. Oath’s mission is to “build brands people love,” and the company owns more than 50 media brands, including Yahoo, AOL, HuffPost, TechCrunch, Tumblr, as well as ad-tech and distribution platforms that support thousands of partners across the globe. Oath launched in June 2017 as a Verizon-owned company, following Verizon’s acquisition of AOL Inc. in 2015, where Armstrong was chairman and CEO.

    Prior to Oath and AOL, Armstrong spent almost a decade at Google, where he finished as president of the Americas and a member of the global operating committee. Armstrong started in the media business after college by co-founding a newspaper in Boston and then moving to internet companies in Seattle, Silicon Valley and New York. These companies included Starwave (creators of ESPN.com, NFL.com, NBA.com), Disney Internet Ventures, Snowball (NYSE company), and America’s Health Network (acquired by News Corp). Armstrong also co-founded and seed-funded Associated Content (acquired by Yahoo) and Patch (acquired by AOL).

    Armstrong serves on the boards of Priceline Group, Tech:NYC as co-founder, iDiverse as chairman, Greenwich Academy for Girls, Connecticut College Athletic Club as co-founder, Waterside School, and as a trustee for the US Olympic & Paralympic Foundation. He also serves as a loving husband and dad as well as lacrosse and basketball coach. A Massachusetts native, Armstrong is an avid New England sports fan — he is part Camel (Connecticut College) and part Trojan (Lawrence Academy).

    Eileen Burbidge
